Talk by Shirin Assa: "Narratives, Memories, Rememberings; The Case of 'Woman, Life, Freedom' in Iran.”

The talk by Shirin Assa discusses the #WomanLifeFreedom movement in Iran, focusing on its significance, intersectional feminist practices, and the oppression faced by Kurdish women and the histories of their resistance. Assa emphasizes the diverse array of apparatuses that subjugate and exploit women intersectionally and explores the concept of a common body that emerges amidst the femicide machine. The talk also highlights the grassroots feminist movements in Iran and their role in seeking justice and forging solidarities across boundaries.
Shirin Assa was born and raised in Tehran. She has been living in Germany for ten years. She is a PhD student and member of the BIGSAS (Bayreuth International Graduate School of African Studies) at the University of Bayreuth.
